A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF BISHOP R.A.WAULS
Compiled by Suff. Bishop Alfred Perry

On April 4, 1914 Robert Allen Wauls was born to Robert A. Wauls Jr. and Bessie Wauls in Gonzales County, Tx. He had two brothers and one sister. He was educated in the Gonzales County Independent School District.

One night in 1936 at the age of 22 years old while attending revival services in Pleasanton,Tx under Bishop William North, pastor of Lincoln Park Church of San Antonio, Bishop Wauls was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost. That very same night Bishop Wauls was commissioned into the ministry of Jesus Christ, and the Lord used him in a mighty way to preach his very first sermon to the people. This was the beginning of Bishop Wauls' ministry. Bishop Wauls continued to work in the ministry of Lincoln Park under the leadership of his late pastor the late Suff. Bishop William North.

For several years Bishop Wauls worked where ever he was needed. He also served and was a blessing to Evangelist Adelia Smith of Faith Temple Apostolic Church of San Antonio. As a young man he embraced the ministry with zeal, power and faithful service to God and his pastor. Elder O'Brien of Brackettville, Texas asked Bishop Wauls to come to Bracketville and help with the ministry there. Several souls were saved. Bishop Wauls also helped the ministry financially. He purchased land for the ministry and constructed a building, which was a tremendous blessing to the saints.

The Lord used Bishop in his early years to pastor there for a time, then the work was turned over to the late Eld. Horace Luckey. The Lord began to use Bishop Wauls in Altair, Texas. Services were held in the home of Bro.Scott, from there a mission was established in Altair. The Lord used Bishop Wauls mightily and again many souls were saved through this ministry. As the ministry continued to grow the church was moved to Garwood, Texas on Highway 71. Thus the present day True Holiness Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, No.3 was established. Bishop Wauls also played a vital role in helping with the ministry in Seguin, Texas which is now Bethel Pentecostal Church, pastored by the late Suff. Bishop Elroy Smith. The church had been pastored by Bishop William North until he moved to Fort Worth, Texas to pastor 12th Street Pentecostal Church. Seguin was left without a pastor, and the church was locked up. Bishop Wauls was given permission by the trustees to unlock the church for the ministry. Bishop Wauls unlocked the church and began to hold revival services. Bishop Wauls served as pastor for many years and many souls were saved.

The birth of the mother church,True Holiness Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, No.1 grew out of a very effective tent ministry. The Lord directed Bishop Wauls to purchase a tent to hold revival services in San Antonio, Texas. He was given permission to put a tent on the property of a lady that lived on Sherman St. Many, many souls were baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost in these meetings. In one months time approximately 40 souls were saved and added to the ministry in this revival. One year later Bishop Wauls bought a lot on Lamar St. and constructed a church building. The church was named the True Holiness Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. The Lord was with the saints, he blessed them to purchase a large lot around the corner on Walters St. They also purchased a large church from the west side of San Antonio and had the church moved to its present day 1315 N. Walters location. Later the Lord lead Bishop Wauls to move his evangelizing tent to Wharton, Texas. Many souls were saved and one year later a church was established. This was the founding of True Holiness Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ,No.2. Bishop Wauls' ministry in Wharton was so powerful and such a force that the enemy became angry.

Some of the members of the community plotted to take the Bishops life, but God has another say in the matter, and not even a hair on his head was touched! Later in Ft.Worth,Tx , Suff. Bishop William North became incapacitated and asked Bishop Wauls to come help the 12th Street Pentecostal Church. Upon the death of Bishop North, Bishop Wauls became the pastor of the 12th St. Pentecostal Church. Bishop Wauls also paid off the debts of the church and remodeled it.

Elder Thomas Jones was appointed pastor by Bishop Wauls. The church grew and relocated. The church was later renamed and its present pastor is Bishop Richard Young. Bishop Wauls was very helpful in Longview, Tx. He worked, labored and pastored there.

He was a financial blessing by paying off the church's debt. Bishop Wauls was a great help to the late Elder Timothy Young. He gave of his strength, time and prayers to the restoration of a great work in that city. The late Elder A.D. Brown later assumed the pastorate. A wonderful ministry is still aglow with Bishop Robert Evans.

Bishop Wauls helped with the church in Port Lavaca, Texas. The first services were held in Mother Bertha Clay's living room. Bishop Wauls ministered in these services and was a great help. Later a church was bought and Eld. Thompson became the pastor, but as time went on Eld. Thompson became ill. Eld. Thompson asked Bishop Wauls to come and help the Saints if anything were to happen to him. After Eld. Thompson died, Bishop sent Eld. O. J. Dixon to pastor the church. Eld. Dixon pastored for a few years and after his departure Bishop Wauls became the pastor. He renovated the church adding a Fellowship In Houston,Tx Bishop Wauls helped Eld. A. J. Patterson with Christ Temple.

A Sister by the name of Missionary Minnie Carter started a work there and later moved to Oklahoma. She asked Bishop Wauls to come help and Pastor the store front church with 8 members. Bishop Wauls went there and prayed and held services with these 8 souls. They were encouraged. Bishop then asked these members to join with Eld. A. J. Patterson and it was a blessing to Eld. Patterson and Christ Temple.

In service to the Lord the fruits of Bishop Wauls' labor are many. Many ministers, Christian leaders and workers have been saved under his ministry and pastoral leadership. Many of these are working and being used by God in the state of Texas as well as throughout the United States. Bishop Wauls has worked and been a member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World since 1936. He has served as District Elder, Chairman of the Texas State Council and Suffragan Bishop, before being elected to the The Bishopric in 1966. Also in 1966 he was assigned to the Episcopal District #26(the state of Oklahoma.) The Oklahoma church was left without a pastor. After the pastor failed, there were no Pentecostal Assemblies of the World pastors in Oklahoma City. Bishop Wauls asked Min.

Charles Meadows to be the pastor of the Oklahoma Church. Bishop met with Minister Meadows in his home in June 1963, prayed and commissioned him to service. In 1967 Bishop Wauls ordained Charles Meadows as Elder. He is now Suff. Bishop Charles Meadows and there are 22 churches in Oklahoma. In 1972 Bishop Wauls was assigned to the 13th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, the great state of Texas. He has also received a Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Aenon Bible College of Columbus, Ohio. This award was in recognition of faithful service to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and the Texas State Council.

Bishop Wauls and the late Mother Myrtle Wauls were married June 19,1945 and they were blessed to have 10 children. As well as many sons and daughters in the Lord. This is only a brief history of Bishop Wauls. There are still many stories to be told and many testimonies to share. God has used Bishop Wauls mightily in the Word. He has given him a gift for scriptures. He has prayed for many, many sick have been healed, many sinners have heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. He sings the songs of Zion wherever he goes.

He has truly been a soldier in the army of the Lord. These things he has accomplished because of the God that lives inside of him, the Lord Jesus Christ.

May God help us to be an example of what he has taught us down through the years. We thank and praise God for your example. May God's blessing continue to be upon you.
